At Enactus Polimi, we are currently working on two exciting projects: Shea Matters and Oyster2Life.
Shea Matters' aim is to help the village of Kumbungu (Ghana) getting access to a new and profitable market made up of herbalist shops in Italy, who share our same values. By buying their shea butter at a fair price and selling it in the cosmetic industry in Italy, the villagers will be able to significantly increase their income allowing small investments in machinery and equipment. Shea Matters will be able to re-invested in long term projects (such as a reforestation plan and a micro grid) aimed at guaranteeing the sustainability of their business.
Oyster2Life aims to revolutionize the actual business of oyster shell disposal, subtracting them from the traditional linear model and including them in a path of a circular and sustainable economy. Also, we aim to sensibilise most people as possible about the importance of protecting our seas. People who believe in our project will have the opportunity to take part in the adoption of our restored reef and the chance to monitor both the positive impact on the marine habitat and the development of the oyster population. One of our goals is to organize events aimed at drawing attention to the problems affecting the marine ecosystem and the ways in which it can be improved.
Through our successful projects, we’ve had the opportunity to compete in several competitions and have won multiple awards.
In 2020 we won the Enactus Italy National Competition and we competed in the World Cup Competition.
In May 2020 we arrived among the 48 finalists in “1 Race 4 Oceans”.
In September 2021 we arrived among the 90 finalists in the “Switch 2 Product Innovation Challenge”.
In 2021 and in 2022 we won the “GHG Challenge” of Step Green Tech.
After we were able to win the Italian national Competition in 2020 we were able to bring it home another time.
Back to back Italian champions! Also in 2023 we've won the award.
